Yarn Organization

We all are guilty of not having our yarn stash organized. I decided to do just this. It took me about a week. I decided to take some yarn to our local senior center for the ladies in the knitting/crochet group. It was yarn that I loved but I hated it once I started working with it. I did not like the way it felt either. Someone else could love it even if I did not.

I decided to use my Niddy Noddy  on the extra leftover skeins to make hanks. Plus, I could keep track of yardage and label each one. The link will show you what it is and a tutorial about using it. In the past, I have overlooked yarn because I am not sure how much is left.

I just used some plastic bins that have been laying around house. I separated them into 5 different buckets by the weight of the yarn. Here is a chart that explains the different yarn weights. I still have to refer to this chart myself at times. It is very useful. The 5 buckets I decided on consisted of Worsted, Cotton, Bulky, Sport and Fingering/Lace weight.

Here is my finished buckets. Oh well, I forgot about the pink & white bag beside the chair. It has yarn in it too. I might find a bag or two laying around hiding out.
