Red Beans and Rice…..Crock Pot

This recipe is extremely easy. I found this online and as usual I had to try it. A big plus is that it is a crock pot version. I always make a large pot to add to the freezer in small containers. The rice is the only thing I had to make at the end of the day. Here is the link for this recipe. Full recipe will be listed at the end of this post.

I start by washing and sorting through the red beans. I found a different type of bean in the bag. Discard any broken pieces and place the beans in the crock pot. Next, add the chicken broth and water.red beans crock

Cut the sausage in small pieces add to a pot of water. Boil the sausage for about 5 minutes. This will get rid of the extra grease from the sausage. red bean sausage

Add the vegetables (onions, celery, bell pepper and garlic) that has been cut up in small pieces.red beans veg

Add the meat after it has cooked for a few minutes. Finally, Add creole seasoning. I did not have any. I used season salt and cayenne pepper. I used only half dose since I cannot use lots of spice.red beans - veg

I really love my crock pot. I can change attachments. I added an attachment for stirring with meat. The electric handle has a pulse that will slowly stir when pushed for 3o seconds. It will automatically stir ever hour once the crock pot has been on for a couple of hours. crock pot metal stir

It has a plain handle attachment to use the crock pot without stirring. It also included a paddle attachment that can be used with soups.crock pot stir paddle
