We love going to eat Japanese hibachi. Our favorite is the Yum Yum Sauce. We will cook hibachi at home sometimes and we have to get some to have along with it. We have tried the commercial bottled sauce that is now in the stores but I really do not like the taste of them. I put my daughter on a hunt for a recipe. She found this one for me. I am not sure where she found it; it was probably Pinterest. She actually wrote it on piece of paper for me and could not remember by the time I got around to asking her about it.
Once it was mixed up well, I put it in a jar with a lid. This jar was actually a salsa jar. I like to recycle the pretty jars. I used Goo Gone to remove the label. I love that stuff.
A little information to file for future reference, Goo Gone will remove gum from clothing. Not sure of staining. My daughter got into gum on her band uniform pants. The pants were black so I was not sure about the staining part but it did remove the white gum.
Getting back to the recipe; this was a easy recipe. I did not use all the spices. I am not able to eat spicy foods anymore. A little can be added later for those who want spice. It calls for vinegar. I have use used regular white vinegar and rice vinegar. Either one would work. It also calls for ketchup or tomato paste. I have used both but I think the paste makes it slightly thicker but either ones of these would work as well.
